Marxist Study Group: “Caliban & the Witch: Women, the Body, and Primitive Accumulation” (Pt. 3)

NY YCL hosts a weekly theoretical discussion group dedicated to analysis of classical and contemporary Marxist writing. We strive to give both a close and critical reading while linking ideas to our contemporary movements and practice. Texts are chosen by vote of those present at discussion.

This week we will continue our discussion of “Caliban & the Witch: Women, the Body, and Primitive Accumulation,” by feminist marxist scholar, Silvia Federici. We will be covering "The Great Caliban."

”Caliban and the Witch” is a 2004 book that explores gender and the family during the primitive accumulation of capital. We will discuss Federici’s work comparatively to Marx’s theory of primitive accumulation.

Reach out to the NY YCL on Telegram for a copy of the text and to join the call! https://t.me/joinchat/R3CW_hvvRE_PNttCtmTGjQ
