What role do we, the collective of the New York YCL, want to play—as Communists—in the 2021 New York City elections? We know that the electoral arena is an area of struggle where we must contest power, but there are many competing priorities and logistical realities for deciding how to get involved. How do we want to support socialists and communists running on the democratic ballot line, and what should be our strategic orientation to the mayoral race? How can we build up our skills to organize campaigns for open Communists as soon as materially possible? Members will discuss candidates they’re personally interested in and have been volunteering with, develop a collective plan of action, and debate and discuss these questions and more!
